The opening round of the NCHSAA 3A State Baseball Playoffs will be Wednesday night at 6pm at Hughes Field.

West Craven is the #7 seed while visiting Lee County is seeded #10 in the East.

The NFL Draft took place last week in Philadelphia. Held on the Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, it was the first draft held entirely outdoors, and was the most attended in history with more than 250,000 people attending. Over three days, all 32 NFL teams chose players who they hope could be the future of their franchise.

In the next few pages, check out all the players drafted by their hometown high school, and vote for the region you think has grown the strongest draft class!

Voting closes on Sunday, May 14th at 3pm EST / 12pm PST.

Monday’s Girls Soccer game at New Bern High has been cancelled.

Monday’s Boys Tennis match at Richlands has been moved to Wednesday.

Tuesday’s Coastal 3A Conference games in Baseball, Girls Soccer, Softball at Jacksonville High have been moved to Wednesday.  Girls Soccer & Softball will start at 5pm on Wednesday.

Friday, Oct. 28 at 1.30pm the 2016 West Craven Athletic Hall of Fame members of Norman Becton ’83, Kip Bryan ’90, Ashley Hill ’06, Morris Jones ’86 & Laura Lancaster ’81 will be introduced during a luncheon at Vera’s Diner in Vanceboro.  Tickets for a country style lunch plate are $15 and it is open to the public until full.

West Craven will play Varsity Football at New Bern High on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7pm.  Tickets will be sold at New Bern High for $7.

The JV Football game between the Eagles and Bears will be played on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 at West Craven High at 6.30pm.

Game Recap

The Lady Eagles traveled to New Bern High School yesterday afternoon to challenge the Bears. The JV team put up a good game and played well together until the end.

Deslyn Abrams continues to dominate serving with 7 serving attempts, 3 of those being aces. She also worked the net with 4 block attempts, 2 being successful and 5 attack attempts, 3 being kills.

Harmony Campbell played all the way around the rotation. She has significantly improved her backrow skills and had 5 digs in the 6 position.

Mackenzie Taylor, MiKayla Armstrong, and Kyleigh Goehring played the setter position. Mackenzie had multiple handling attempts, 3 being successful assists.

Looking forward to our home game vs Kinston High School on Thursday, August 25 at 4:30 pm. Come out and support your Lady Eagles!
